Our ward volunteered at a local event where we put together meals for those in need. It was a good experience and neat to be with so many people from the community and our ward in doing this massive effort. There were lots of volunteers there and we only had to help for an hour before the next shift of people came. It was great! Chelsea was a stinker and kept running away. She's stressful to take places because she doesn't listen and stay with us. We need a straight jacket! A volunteer lady with the organization took her for a bit and Kyle told her we would be back tonight to pick her up. hahaha!

Back to School
First Day of School 2015
Kate is in 5th grade, Preston is in 2nd grade, Lindsey is in half day Kindergarten in the morning and Chelsea is in a co-op preschool with Mom's from our ward 3 days a week.
Preston's teacher is Mrs. Rogers. She is due to have a baby early next year so Preston will have a different teacher for a few months. Mrs. Rogers was a 1st grade teacher last year and had Preston in some of her rotations so she knew him. That made me feel better.
Lindsey has Mrs. Kyser for Kindergarten. I've heard good things about her so I'm glad she got her.
Kate got Mrs. VanZeipel for 5th grade. According to other kids she wasn't one of the favorite teachers so Kate was really sad when she found out she had her. But after a week of school Kate likes her and is doing great. Phew.
Waiting at the bus stop with the neighbor kids. I usually just send them out the door and they go wait up by the street, but this first morning I went up there with them.
Kate, Grace and Catherine
Chelsea went to the dentist for her first time. I switched all the kids to a pediatric dentist near by because it was stressful driving them all the way over to Edmonds to Dr. Hopewell. (I switched Kyle to one closer to his work too, but I'm still going there.) She did good. She was a little fidgety, but she's 3. I usually don't take them to the dentist until 3 or 4 anyway. She's probably my youngest that has gone, but I took her because I noticed a cavity starting on one of her molars. Sure enough she had one, but it was tiny and the dentist could do it without numbing her. Yay. Glad to get that taken care of.
Chelsea climbs the staircase this way...what a monkey!

Not so Much Camping and Family Time
Our ward does a campout up at Cascade park (church owned) up near Granite Falls and they do it over Labor Day weekend. We headed up there and the weather was like this as we got closer. Ugh.
Everyone was soaking wet and miserable. We stayed close to the fire and drank hot cocoa. Kyle didn't want to stay the night and set up the tent. I kind of agreed, but Kate really wanted to stay the night. But we knew it would be a wet night and everything would be soaking wet in the morning. We decided to not stay the night and just drove home. I'm SO glad we did! Sleeping in our warm beds was the best. And not having to clean up after camping was even better. haha.
It was a good thing we went home that night and didn't stay over because Kyle's Dad called him Saturday morning saying he was in town and wanted to come over in the morning. We hurried and cleaned up the house because it was messy since we got home from camping and dumped everything. Lynn came over and we visited for a bit before he took us all out to lunch at Blazing Onion. yum. It was nice of him to come visit us. We've seen more of him this year with all the baptisms and events happening which is a good thing. He's enjoyed seeing all of us more. Then we all headed down to the Madison and Dano's reception down in Kent. It was outside in a friends' backyard and so pretty. Madison looked beautiful. I remember going to her baptism and now she's already married! They had yummy BBQ sandwiches with chips and fruit and drinks along with an italian soda bar. It was the best food because my kids all ate it! The weather cooperated and didn't rain at all. As we were driving away it was pouring rain so they are lucky they didn't get rain. My parents actually came to the reception too because they were over doing a garage sale at Marci's house with the things she didn't need. Then we were all heading back over to Mattawa for the weekend.
Kyle ordained Dane a deacon the next morning in Richland. They both got braces right before this weekend so we had a good laugh at that. Kyle said he got them to make Dane feel better. We went to Church with Melanie and then visited after dinner.
Owen likes Kyle so he had to get a picture too. Cute.
I had Sara cut my girls' hair before school starts. She's nice to do our hair many times when we get together. I loved this hair cut on Kate. It's my favorite. I wish I could keep it like this all the time.
We had apple nachos with caramel and yummy toppings. The kids got another time swimming before the pool closes. With such a warm summer we got to swim early and swim late. It was a great summer!
