"Whatever"

It's official!!! Jeff is engaged to Sadie Vandersloot from Idaho Falls!!! It actually happened a month ago, but it's still new. :) We are excited and are looking forward to going to the wedding in the Idaho Falls Temple in December.

After my Mom's quick trip to Utah she decided to stay the night (instead of driving home late Friday night) and hang out with us on Saturday. It was fun and I'm glad she did. In the morning, Kyle and my Mom went with the kiddos to the Children's Museum (I had a primary program practice and pizza party that morning- FYI- our program went well on Sunday and I'm glad it's done!) and I think she probably had more fun than the kids- not really, but she liked it. It is a cute place, but our membership ran out and I'm not sure if I want to renew it so I wanted Kyle to take the kids one last time.

The other day, Kate was eating candy out of this goody bag from a birthday party and said, "say whatever, Daddy." I was wondering why she wanted him to "say whatever" and quickly realized she was asking him if she could eat another piece of candy and then was telling him to say "whatever" meaning she could eat it!!! It was so funny. Normally, you tell your parents, "say yes!" but we must say "whatever" a lot around here because that is what she was saying. She did eat a lot of the candy, but when we didn't say "whatever" tears started streaming down her face and she was so not happy. It's tough being a kid. :)

Ear Infection x 2

Is it bad that I am glad Preston has double ear infections?! I took him to the doctor on Monday because he has been sleeping horribly for the last week (waking up through the night, not crying, but babbling for an hour before falling back asleep and then only napping for 45 minutes in the afternoon). He has a cough and cold (passed down to him from me) and so I didn't know if he wasn't sleeping because of that or teething (he's getting an upper tooth) or maybe it was an ear infection. It always annoying taking kids to the doctor and then they say nothing is wrong. It's like "your just stuck with a fussy kid for a while." So I was a little hesitant to even take him, but once I did and my suspicions were confirmed, I was glad!!! Horrible. :) I gladly took the Zithromax prescription and out the door we went. It's been a few days, and I think he's starting to feel better, but he still needs to get back into his better napping habits.

My Mom made a quick visit on Tuesday night. She flew out to Utah on Wednesday morning so she stayed here and then I took her to the airport in the morning. Kate loved showing her all her dress up clothes, reading books with her and then cried in the morning when Grandma Vicki wasn't sleeping in her room. (so cute!) Preston stared at my Mom, either mesmerized or confused- not sure. :) We pick her up again on Friday night from the airport.

Lazy Dazy Day

This weekend was pretty laid back. On Saturday, Kyle went to get a haircut at this place where it's all sports themed. While getting a haircut he watched a football game on this tv that sat between two chairs. He said it was a pretty cool place and liked it better than Great Clips! Nothing is better than his sister, Melanie, though. We got the oil changed in the Honda and went shopping at Walmart. After naps (I went grocery shopping at Fred Meyer while the kids were napping), it was still torrential downpour rain and we were stir crazy so we decided to go try out this burger place that Oprah's friend Gayle said had the best burgers in Seattle. It's called Red Mill Burgers and our friends Nick and Natalie tried it out a while ago, but we are just now trying it for ourselves. I had the verde burger with fire roasted verde peppers, jack cheese, Red Mill sauce and the fixings. Kyle had their bacon cheese burger and he liked it. Mine was okay. It wasn't my favorite and I am still totally satisfied with Red Robin. The kids ate McDonald's and Kate loved her burger. :) So overall, I wouldn't say it had the best burgers, but it was fun to try out and fun to eat somewhere new.

Then, we ventured into the Fremont neighborhood to find the famous Troll that sits under the Aurora bridge and to drive around- their are some interesting people there. When Kate saw the Troll she said, "scary!" But then her and I got out and she thought we were at the beach with all the sand that was there. She loved climbing up the hill and around the troll. I didn't have my camera so I took pictures on my cell phone and got this one from the internet.

Randomness

BYU vs UW Football Game

We went to the BYU vs UW football game on Saturday in Seattle. The weather was beautiful and the views were spetacular. My family came over for the day to go to the game. It was a fun game, very close, but BYU ended up winning. My Dad, brother and Kyle were all rooting for UW to win so it was pretty funny since they were surrounded by BYU fans.

After the football game, we went back to our house to pick up Kate and Preston and to relieve the babysitter. Then we went to Macaroni Grill for dinner- yummy! Then, my parents went home after dinner because Jeff had to pack and leave to go back to Rexburg in the morning so they needed to get back.

Labor Day

I am behind on blogging... For labor day weekend we stayed here- normally we go to my parents house or to the Ellensburg Rodeo and Fair, but this time we didn't. On Monday, Kyle met my Dad, brothers and brother-in-law outside Ellensburg to go on a motorcycle riding trip. Kyle loved it and Kate was so excited when he got home all dirty and tired.

I asked Kate what she wanted for lunch and she insisted on crackers and mayo. I thought she meant crackers and tuna fish, but nope, just mayo! Gross, huh?! She loved it.

Shrek the Musical

My fabulous sister, Marci, volunteers for Make a Wish Foundation and they gave her two free tickets to see the World Premiere of Shrek the Musical at the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle on Wednesday night. She invited me to go with her! I am glad she did because it was really funny!!! Marci and I were told to be quiet from the man sitting next to Marci- oops. We still kept laughing. My favorite character was Lord Farquaad who had these amazingly short legs (the man playing him knelt down and moved around like that so the legs were faux legs on his thighs. Too funny.) Thanks Marci for a fun night! And thanks to Kyle for giving up basketball that night so I could go. :)

Morning Breath

This morning (before I had brushed my teeth) I was singing the ABC song to Kate and she said "you let a stinker?"

I said, "no!" and kept singing.

Then she said, "your face stinks!"

"What?" I ask.

"Your faces stinks!" she repeated.

Then, I told her that it was my breath that stinks because I hadn't brushed my teeth yet. I immediately went and brushed my teeth then had her smell my breath again and she approved. :) I LOVE the funny things kids say.
