Life Through the Eyes of Kate

Kate got a camera for Christmas last year and she is always busy snapping away taking pictures. I've been meaning to download them for a while now to see what she has taken pictures of. Most of them are blurry and fuzzy. She is probably spinning and dancing while taking them. ha ha! We'll have to work on holding the camera still.

There were many pictures that she took of herself. Funny. She gets that from her aunts, Marci and Sara!

The Farm

Kate had a preschool field trip to this farm where the kids could plant a pumpkin seed, plant a marigold and take it home, hold animals, go through a hay maze and then eat an ice cream treat.

We rode on a hay ride out to the field to plant our pumpkin seeds. Farmer Dan liked Kate's pink John Deere sweatshirt! She should have told him her grandpa is a farmer too. :)

Preston liked the hay ride, but not the planting part. He just wanted to run around.

Kate planting her seed.

We held animals like kitties, bunnies and tried feeding goats some milk. Kate loved this little kitty. I like kitties too, but not cats. Too bad they don't stay small.

Pacific Science Center

We have passes to the Pacific Science Center and haven't been for a while. I wasn't working and Kate didn't have preschool so we went one morning. It was nice for the kids to explore and they had a good time.

We even went to an IMAX show of the eruption of Mt. St. Helen's which was appropriate because the 30th yr anniversary was the next day. It was an interesting film. During the show Preston kept saying "volcano" over and over. Kate was asking lots of questions so I eventually had to tell her to just watch. I didn't want others around us to get annoyed with her talking all the time. :)
Kate started swim lessons this week. Kyle took her the first time and got a fuzzy, blurry picture of her. I took her the second time and forgot the camera so we aren't doing too well! Next week maybe we'll get a better picture of her.

Getaway

Melanie and Milo graciously offered to come over and watch our kids last weekend so we could have a getaway in celebration of our 10 yr wedding anniversary. It was very nice of them and the kids did good so we were happy about that. We didn't want to travel too far because of limited time and we planned it last minute. We ended up just going to a nice hotel not far from our house. It was a new hotel so that made me feel good (I had a patient not too long ago tell me that they are finding more bed bugs especially in hotels/motels behind the head boards! ewwww!!!). It was a modern swanky hotel and it had a continental breakfast, which was also fancy.
The first night we went to the temple and out to a thai restaurant. Then we slept in the next morning and went shopping, got a quick bite to eat and then went to a movie. We saw Date Night which was funny, but then at the end they had to mess it up with a dumb strip club scene. Not cool. We ended up going out to a mexican restaurant for dinner and then walked around an outdoor shopping area. We went to this game store where they had all these cool games that you can't find in regular stores. It was fun to look around. There was a pokemon tournament going on so it was a busy place.

Kyle chillin' in the chair that was not comfortable!

Our swanky continental breakfast with scrambled eggs, pan fried potatoes with peppers and onions, sausage or bacon, pancakes, toast, muffins, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk and if you wanted you could even get a made to order omelette from the standby chef. It was good!

We came home with more goodies for the kids than for us! We found some good deals on our shopping trip. Preston got some new sunglasses for him. He didn't like wearing any last year so maybe this year he will.

We brought home a travel size game of Perfection for the kids. They both like to do puzzles so we thought it would be the perfect game for them. Plus it has the element of surprise when the timer runs out and it pops up. They would laugh and thought it was so funny. Preston likes to do it just to have it pop up on him. ha ha.
Melanie and Milo even took all the kids to the zoo on Saturday! They were quite the troopers with 6 kids all at once. Thank you SO much for coming over to visit and being willing to watch our kids for us! You guys are TOO nice. :)

Happy Mother's Day!!!

In our rush to get to Church, I had Kyle take a picture of me with my 2 1/2 kids. :) I'm grateful that I'm a mom. They are fun kids and I'm lucky to be their mother. Even when I lose my patience with them they still love me and tell me often. They make life more fun because they get so excited over the simple things in life. Motherhood definitely has it's challenges, but it is very rewarding.
I'm grateful for my own mom and mother-in-law. They are both great examples to me of how to be a good mom. They are also my friends and such good grandmas. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Birthday Kyle!!!

My parent's, Jared and Marci came up for the day to celebrate Kyle's birthday on Friday. The guys went to a movie and then we met up for dinner at one of Kyle's favorite places...Red Robin. It was so nice of my family to come over for the day. We had fun visiting with them. Kate and Preston loved showing my Mom everything at our house.

Jared and Preston sportin' the faux hawk.

My Mom, Marci and I.

The whole gang. Red Robin is the best because the adults and kids both like it. We came home with a lot of balloons and it entertained the kids for the next couple of days.

Singing Happy Birthday. Those are a lot of candles Kyle!!! ha ha. He's 32 and is such a great father and husband. He's anxious to get back to work, but he's done a good job at keeping up with the house and has learned to do many things he never used to do. He goes to Preston's co-op preschool with all the other Mom's (poor guy), makes and takes the kids' to appointments and cleans things at home he never used to clean. It's not easy to be at home (especially for a man!) and he's done a great job. Happy Birthday! We love you!!!

This and That

Preston loves to walk around in other people's shoes. This also includes Kate's dress-up shoes. I loved this picture though of him with his white shirt on and just a diaper in heels. ha ha.

My growing belly in all it's glory. I had Kate take a picture because I haven't taken one yet and I like to see my "growth". :) I'm 28 weeks...I'm getting closer! eeks! I like being pregnant and I'm doing good. Sometimes I get some back pain or carpal tunnel when I'm working (my hand goes numb), but it's only occasionally so I'm thankful for that.

Kate loves to ride her bike. She started riding a bigger bike last year and is doing really well on it. She loves to go fast on it.

Rockstars

I was having issues with Blogger and have tried posting a few times. Finally, it worked for me!
Here is our Rock Star! She gave us a peformance one night. All the lights had to be off and she stood on a stool to perform for us. She loves to dress-up. Some mornings we don't even get her dressed in real clothes because she just wants to play dress-up.

Preston was being funny with these glasses. He thought he was pretty funny too always laughing at himself. He likes to copy Kate a lot so I guess he wanted to be a rock star too! He usually doesn't let us put any type of glasses on him so we were surprised he put them on. I have a video of him putting them on and him laughing, but it's too big to post, bummer. Both kids are doing well. They are healthy, which is so nice, knock on wood.

I saw these on a craft blog and wanted to try them. They are headbands from the dollar store that I wrapped with satin and then cut circles out of the satin (I used a lighter to seal the edges) and put a decorative brad in the center. I made a hot pink one too. Kate has never worn a headband before so I wanted to make her some. I had her wear one the next day to Church and she would scratch her head and mess up her hair. I was fixing that headband more times than I can remember! Maybe I don't like headbands afterall. ha ha.

Kate had a field trip for preschool to this cute shopping center nearby where you can feed the ducks, ride a train and play at a park. We had a picnic at the park too. It was fun to spend the day with her. She loved it. While we were eating lunch there was this rooster waiting by the picnic table like a dog wanting food. Kate and another girl were scared of it and did not like it so close to them.

Her friend, Lanae, from preschool came over after the field trip for a playdate. They had fun dressing up and playing. I loved how both of them totally posed for the picture! I liked the outfits with the sunglasses too.
