Update

I picked out some new bedding for the crib to match Kate's existing bedding. It was interesting b/c I was so limited on my choices (unless I wanted to redo the whole room, which I did not want to do). I'll take pictures next week once it's all put together, but I think it looks pretty good together. I found it at Babies R Us and for some reason they had one set on clearance so I even got the set I wanted for cheaper!

Preston had tubes put in last year, but one fell out back in April and then last Friday he was crying and holding his ear. We went to the doctor and she couldn't see the tube in that ear either! He had an ear infection and later, the tube fell out- I think his ear drum ruptured. Poor kid. We'll wait and see if he gets another ear infection and if he does then we'll probably put tubes back in both ears.

Kyle went on a motorcycle trip last Friday with my Dad, brothers and brother-in-law near Ellensburg. They had fun and no one got hurt. That's the first thing we ask when they call "did anyone get hurt?" It's a tradition for them to go out for pizza afterwards before coming home all dirty and tired. They love their bike trips.

I went out for a girl's night out last week b/c a friend is moving away. We went to Macaroni Grill (yum, I haven't been there in forever) and then we went shopping. I got a cute necklace and some earrings. It's fun to find cheap, cute jewelry. Gotta love the store For Love by Forever 21.

I'm feeling fine (pregnancy wise) except I got another stiff neck and I can't take muscle relaxers so I just use a heating pad a lot and ask Kyle to massage my neck. It's getting better, but it hurts the most laying down trying to go to sleep so my sleep has been limited. I slept in the chair last night and I think I actually got some good sleep! I'm due in a month so the time is ticking away- yikes! Even though it's my third kid I'm still nervous on how it will all go (delivery and all).

work, Happy Father's Day, life

I am working 4 days this week, which I am hoping to make it through. I fell down our front porch steps on Friday and tweaked my neck. I'll be fine, but it's annoying to have a sore neck...well, and back b/c that is what I landed on. The steps were wet and I was wearing flip flops. I should have grabbed onto the railing b/c I had that thought right before I went down that I needed to be careful. Well, too late, my feet came out from under me and I landed on the steps. Ouch. My neighbors saw b/c we were just cleaning up from being outside all afternoon. I'm sure it wasn't graceful at all. :O I remember my Mom falling on the ice when she was pregnant, but she fell on her stomach so that was scary. I'm fine other than a sore neck and back.

Happy Father's Day to my own Dad and to Kyle! They both are great father's and I'm grateful for them in my life. My Dad is really such a great Dad. I remember him taking us kids out on the farm with him and he didn't mind all the annoying things we did. He is the most patient man I know! Kyle has been so good with the kids during this last year while he's been home more and I've been working. I know it hasn't been easy for him, but he's such a good dad. The kids will miss him when he goes back to work. We didn't make it over to my parent's house for Father's Day so we stayed here and Marci came up to visit. I made steak and chicken shish kabobs, garlic mashed potatoes, fruit, green salad, rolls (from my Mom- yum), corn on the cob and then 4-layer pudding dessert. Then we played games and had a good time chatting. Kate was so excited to have Marci come visit. She drew her a picture and made sure to have Marci watch her every move.

Last night, we went to a going away party for our Bishop and his family (who we are good friends with). They are leaving for California. It's always sad to see good friends move away. We've had a lot of that lately. We had the party at a park and a lot of people showed up even though it was overcast and kind of chilly. We are still waiting for summer weather to show up. When we got home I was opening up the back door to our suburban and we had tables in the back that we used at the park. Well, as I opened the door a table came crashing down on my ankle/shin area. It hurt so bad! I now have a big bump and bruise. Good thing it didn't break my leg or anything, but I'm sick of getting hurt this weekend!

Kate finished swim lessons last week and after her last session I took her and Preston swimming. That was fun. Now we are officially on summer break...no swim lessons and no preschool. I'm working up until 2 weeks til my due date so I have a few more weeks left of working. We have some family reunions coming up, but I'm thinking this summer will be low key as far as traveling goes. Definitely not low key as far as family goes with a baby coming and all. ha ha. It will be interesting to see how we adjust to another baby in the house. It seems so long ago that we had a baby.

All Done with Preschool

Kate graduated from Preschool!!!
She was so excited to go to preschool each day and even though she is SO excited to go to Kindergarten in the fall she will miss going to preschool and seeing Miss Kim and her friends. The theme was patriotic for the graduation so my Mom literally whipped up this dress (in 1 day! I wish I could sew like that) and sent it to us so Kate could wear it to her graduation. It turned out so cute. I told Kate it's a sailor's dress and she asked "what is a sailor?"

There was supposed to be a field trip to the beach for the last day of preschool on Friday morning, but it was raining so it was canceled. The weather cleared up and was nice for the graduation that night. All her friends in preschool. L-R: Kate, Lanae, Ryleigh, Kaleigha and Tyler

Kate leading everyone in the song "God Bless America". I thought it was cute she even learned that song. (She kept holding onto her hat b/c it was sliding off.) Now she tells us daily how it's summer break and then baby Lindsey will come and then she can go to kindergarten.

Baby and Swimming

I'm 33 weeks so only 7 more to go! We set up the crib in Kate's room yesterday as well as washed all the baby clothes from Kate. It was fun to remember Kate wearing all the clothes as I folded them. It doesn't seem too long ago that Kate did wear them so it's weird to think we'll have another baby girl soon! I've been working a lot this month- 3 or 4 days/wk. I'm filling in for a girl at an office nearby that is on maternity leave. It's getting harder to bend over and my lab coat I wear to work is getting tight! I'm planning on only working until mid July-a couple weeks before I'm due. I was 10 days early with Preston and 2 days early with Kate so who knows when this baby will come. It will be interesting to see how the baby and Kate sleep together. I'm already telling Kate she has to sleep even if the baby is crying. Let's hope that works. ha ha. We are planning on naming the baby Lindsey Joy.

We went to my parent's house again last weekend- 2 weekends in a row because Kyle's cousin and my friend from high school both had wedding receptions. It was beautiful weather so the kids could actually go swimming. Jared is such a good uncle and plays with the kids. He took Kate on this big lounge raft- one way to get her in the big pool. ;) We picked strawberries, well I only helped for 10 minutes after getting winded from bending over, watched my Mom and Dad do yard work, washed a bunch of cars, Kyle mowed the lawn, rode the 4 wheeler and enjoyed the nice weather.

Even though the water was freezing, Preston could not get enough of this pool with a slide. He loves the water.

Swim Lessons

Kate loves her swim lessons. This last picture is typical because she'll look at us a lot and wave and smile. She is like a fish in the water and could stay in for hours. However, when we go to my parent's house she will not go into their pool. She thinks she's going to drown even though she's wearing a life jacket. She can't touch the ground and I think that scares her. So our goal for her is to get more comfortable in my parent's pool. We'll see how she does. I know she'll love it if she just tries it.

Boulder Resort Reunion

Over Memorial Day Weekend, my Mom took advantage of everyone being home and organized a family reunion. Her theme was "A Trip Down Boulder Lane" (like a trip down Memory Lane). She had different activities planned for each day. It was fun and it was the last time we'll all be together until close to Thanksgiving because I'll be having a baby at the end of July and Sadie is due a week after me. I know we both won't be travelling anywhere far around that time. :)

I took this picture of all of us in the kitchen because it's so typical of meal times and I thought it was funny. We were eating delicious hamburgers, homemade fries and milkshakes. Yum! Good thing my parent's have a big kitchen so we can all fit!

The kids at the "kid table". They would usually eat 2 bites (or none) and run off to play. They missed out on some good food! Aren't they cute?!

The kids had a talent show with all the dress-up clothes my Mom has for them to play in. They walked down the red "carpet" and Jeff was shining a spotlight on them. They loved it and sure hammed it up for all of us.

We went on a memory scavengar hunt. My Mom had different toys to give to the kids at each location after we talked about the memories we had. This rock is where us girls (Marci, Jeni and me) would pretend to sing with a jump rope as a microphone. We liked to play pretend a lot and talked out loud to ourselves.

Preston was getting a drink from the hose and I thought it was hilarious how he bent down to get one! He was first holding the hose, but dropped it and then figured out another way to get a drink. Nothing better then fresh cold well water. Mmmmm, sure beats city water.

My Mom used her Cricut to cut vinyl out for our craft project. My Mom bought a variety of plates and we came up with a saying to put on our plate. I think mine turned out pretty cute. It goes well in my kitchen.

On Sunday, after Church we took a trip down memory lane and went to Ellensburg and Kittitas to visit different places from my parent's lives. We visited the school that my Dad attended, the house that my parent's first lived in after they were married, the church they used to go to, my grandparent's old house and other places. It was interesting to see the school house because now someone lives in it as their own house! It needs a lot of work, but my Dad was showing us which rooms were for the kindergarten class and all the way up to 4th grade. I'm sure it brought back a lot of memories for him. We stopped by the cemetery to visit our great grandparent's graves and stopped by to see G&G Sabin. Then we went back to my parent's house and my Mom made homemade spudnuts that were delicious.
It was a fun family reunion. We played LOTS of games, the kids swam (it wasn't very nice weather), the guys went paintballing and rode motorcycles, we ate way too much yummy food and we all had fun hanging out. Thanks Mom and Dad for planning it all and making it so much fun!

Happy Birthday Kate!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Kate!!!

The birthday girl on her real birthday!

We opened presents after having her favorite breakfast- crepes with strawberries and cool whip. I loved this expression on her face. She needed a new Belle Barbie b/c the head broke off on her other one so Preston gave this to her. Obviously, she was very excited about it. She got a cute skirt, pool and tinkerbell towel, craft projects galore, books, a cute new coat and other things. She loved it all! Thanks everyone.

This music book was a present from G&G Wright and it was a huge hit with all the kids (and adults- hee hee!). Preston especially loved playing the "no" (piano). He loves music.

We gave her a new pink Razor scooter and she loves it. It goes much faster than the small kiddy version she had.

Here's the pool cake I made for Kate. I got the idea online from Family Fun. I made it a mud pie ice cream cake and you can tell it was melting. :0 It was easy to make and big hit. The bears were swimming and lounging in the pool like we do at my parent's house!
Happy Birthday Kate! We love you and are so glad to have you in our family. You bring a lot of fun into our lives with your personality and zest for life. You are a cute, smart, friendly, caring, energetic and talented girl!

Pool Party

Kate wanted to have a Pool Party for her 5th Birthday. We invited some friends and went to an indoor pool then came back for pizza, fruit, capri suns, cupcakes and ice cream. The kids played and opened presents. They had fun and Kate loved swimming with all her friends.
We told Kate this was her fake birthday because her real birthday was on Saturday and we'd be at my parent's house for Memorial Day weekend. I think she was okay with getting to celebrate her birthday twice. She would tell her friends, "you have to sing happy birthday to me." :) She's SOOOO excited to turn 5 because then that means she gets to go to Kindergarten. (We registered her already and went to an orientation. When we were walking down the hallway at the school Kate was skipping along loudly saying, "I'm so excited, I get to go to kindergarten!" We all felt her enthusiasm- even though I'm sad she's growing up!)

I made these cupcakes from an idea I found online. I love getting cute ideas online and copying them. The bear lounging in the inner tube was too cute. The kids loved playing with the umbrellas.

Kate with her friends. L-R: Kate, Alyssa, Lanae, Ryleigh, Tyler and Dallas.

Opening presents...how fun!
