Good Choice?

We got our new couch and love seat in the other day. Our old couch was one we bought when we were in college living in Cheney. So we've had it for over 8 years, but we loved it. The new furniture came and I was SO nervous to see the color and to see if I would like them. Choosing the leather color was the biggest deal because I knew we would be stuck with these couches for a while. They unwrapped them and I liked them except they matched our walls (which I knew they would) and it looked like one big tan blob in our room. They are really poofy and Kyle didn't like how it felt when he layed down on them (the one in the store didn't seem as poofy). I had a pit in my stomach- after all that money, did we pick the right color or even the right couch?!

My Mom & Dad and Sara & Derek came over the next day to pick up our old couch (Sara and Derek are taking it) and they loved the furniture. I had forewarned my Mom that we were having buyer's remorse. When my family sat on them they liked them and didn't think they were too poofy and that calmed my nerves a lot. Then I figured I could get long curtains and decorate the walls to break up the tan in the room and add color. I think it will look okay in the end. Kyle and I both have a hard time dealing with change though. Getting new furniture is no different! We wanted our old couch, but in new condition. I told him we needed Jeff and Jared to come visit to flatten the cushions out for us. haha. I'll have to post pictures when I get my new curtains up. I think I'll attempt to make them on my own. yikes.

New Dinner Idea

I made this the other night and thought it was really good. It's a recipe from Whole Foods Market. I served onion roasted red potatoes and broccoli with it. I used the frozen tilapia fillets from Costco and just thawed them. I've never had tilapia before, but took a risk and bought it from Costco and it's yummy fish.

Baked Southwestern Tilapia
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
4 (6-ounce) tilapia fillets
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
1 lime, cut into wedges

Preheat oven to 375°F. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper and cayenne. Sprinkle evenly over both sides of tilapia. Coat a baking sheet with 1 tablespoon of the oil. Arrange tilapia in a single layer on the baking sheet. Drizzle tilapia with the remaining tablespoon of oil and bake until golden brown and flesh begins to flake, 10-15 minutes. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Day Off

Since the kids didn't have school on Monday and Kyle didn't have work, we took them to Jump Planet and then to Red Robin for lunch. It wa a lot of fun. They were really good too.

Kate has been asking to come here for a long time so she was in heaven.

Last time we brought Preston here was easily over a year ago and he cried and did not want to get on anything. It was a bust. So we didn't know how he would do this time around. We were surprised to see how much he liked it and how much fun he had. He was climbing everything and even got knocked in the mouth by another kid, but wanted to go back in for more! It was exciting for us to see how much he liked it. We'll for sure have to take them back.

Kyle was going on most toys with the kids and even took Lindsey down a few slides. He was like a kid too. ha ha.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Jeff and Sadie came to my parent's last weekend so we all got together. It was a lot of fun and I laughed lots, which was good. Sometimes I've been known to laugh so hard I cry. I had a couple of those moments and thinking of them still makes me laugh. :) We ate lots, watched Jared play in his basketball game, played the Wii, played on the ipad, talked, played outside, saw both grandparents, played games and ate some more.
We even went over there with all three kids' having a cold and cough (family was okay with it). Preston is known to have an amazing gag reflex so we expected to deal with throw-up due to his coughing (because the day before we left I cleaned up throw-up 4 times! gross!). Surprisingly, he only threw up once and that was at Jared's basketball game, which was slightly embarrassing, but he must have choked on some popcorn. All in all, the weekend was a success, I would say.

Reagan and Lindsey- we tried to get a decent picture of them together and I still don't have one! ha ha. They are only a week apart and it will be fun to see them grow up together as cousins.

All of us at Jared's basketball game. We were loudly cheering for him. I don't know if we embarrass him, but that's what he gets for being the youngest. ;)

Paige and Kate were our cheerleaders. They loved the pom poms my Mom had for them.

On Sunday, both grandparents came over for the family dinner. Lindsey loves putting anything in her mouth so she quickly found Grandma's necklace. So cute.

Here's my Mom and Dad who make this all possible! Everything they do they do for us kids and grandkids. They make their house so fun to come home to. We tell them they shouldn't want us to come home so much, but they tell us they really do want us to come often. They say they miss all the chaos and noise when we leave. So that's why we keep going back. ;)
(I love how my parent's were matching! My Dad's purple shirt is awesome.)

Lindseyisms

I tried feeding Lindsey rice cereal a couple weeks ago and she would grab the spoon. Then last night I was feeding her some sweet potatoes and she kept grabbing the spoon, sticking her fingers in her mouth and spitting the food everywhere. So tonight I put her arms down and moved the tray closer so she couldn't use her hands. Much easier to feed her. :)

Dee Ann gave Lindsey this cute brown dress and pink sweater. I wanted to get a picture of her really quick before leaving for Church- we were running late (well late for Kyle, he likes to be early!). She kept rolling over while I was trying to get a picture...

Or putting her feet up so I couldn't get a good picture of the dress...

She's an active baby! She scoots around everywhere now so we have to watch what we leave on the floor. Her favorite thing to get are magazines. I found a wad of paper in her mouth last week. I left the room and came back in to see she had scooted over to The Friend magazine near the chair. Good thing she didn't choke on that wad of paper.

She rolls around in her bouncy chair which we think is pretty funny but I like how she uses her feet to play with the toys. Cute feet.
