Life Now

How's life going? Well let's see...last week Chelsea did not so good during the night the first few days she was home. My mom stayed up with her so I could sleep through the night and my Mom only got a couple hours of sleep one night. Chelsea wasn't crying, but just wouldn't get in a deep sleep and so you couldn't sleep. Then when my Mom left she had another rough night, but then after that she's been much better and sleeping longer stretches at night. Last night she went 6/12 hour stretch and I woke up thinking something was wrong (we've all done that at some point) and I went over to make sure she was breathing. :) She sleeps lots through the day, but is starting to have more awake time too. The kids love her. Kate likes to hold her and feed her. Lindsey likes to kiss her and climb on her. Preston likes to hold her..once in a while. She's a good eater and a good baby so far. It's just always nice when they figure out their days and nights so we can all get some rest. She is 1 1/2 weeks and already passed her birth weight so she's doing good.

Preston finished preschool yesterday and Kate finishes school today. Then it's summer break. I am slightly overwhelmed thinking how I'm going go places while carting around a baby, a busy toddler and a runaway 4 yr old. Preston's not doing summer school so I feel like I need to come up with some social activities or school stuff he can do once in a while. My friend had gotten her daughters a little present (a diary/notebook) for the last day of school. Kate was emotional this morning saying no one cared about her that she was finishing school. Basically, she wanted a present because her friend was getting one and so she didn't feel loved I guess. So what does a good Mom do? Go to Target and buy her a present. ;) I got her a notebook and pens from the dollar section. She will love it. At least I hope so. Then while I was wrapping the present, Preston and Lindsey were eating lunch. I came downstairs a few minutes later to see Lindsey splashing her hands in Preston's spilled milk. Lindsey had spilled it and thrown all her food on the floor. Grrr. She got banished to the high chair while I cleaned it up. Welcome to summer with all the kiddos home!!! We have splash week next week (swim lessons for Kate, just a week long) and Kate's ballet recital. Can't believe it's almost the 4th of July!

And more of Chelsea...

Welcome to our family Chelsea! Like Kate said, "we love you already."

Baby Chelsea

I was supposed to go in at 7:30am on Friday morning to get induced (I was 39 weeks), but they called at 5am cancelling because there was no beds available. This was me on Friday when I couldn't get in to the hospital to get induced. I wasn't very happy by the end of the day. It's frustrating to be told one thing and not have it work out. We spent our day shopping and making and eating cinnamon rolls.

The nurse called me at 6:30am and 7am trying to let me know that they had a bed available and I could come in. Well, my phone was downstairs so I didn't get their message until 7:30 and so I called them back letting them know I was coming. We checked into the hospital a little after 8am. It was a LONG day because the hospital was changing over to a new computer program so no one really knew what they were doing. It was such a long process to get medication and everything else. They kept apologizing, but it really was a longer day because of it. I started the pitocin after 11am (yes it took that long to get going! ugh!) and by 6pm I was still  3-4 cm dilated (I was a 2 when I went in in the morning). The nurse and doctor recommended breaking my water to get things going. They broke my water at 7pm, then I got my epidural (heaven) and by 9:10pm I was ready to push! It went fast. Except the doctor was delivering a baby next door when I was ready so they told me I would have to wait until he was ready. Thank goodness I had an epidural and could hold off. When the doctor came in I was really ready to push and he was taking his time so when he realized I was serious he told me to wait and to hurry and put his gloves on. Sheesh! She was born at 9:43pm and seemed so small. She was cute and hairy. She weighed 8lbs 7 oz and was 19.5 inches long.

My Mom had come over on Thursday night anticipating me going into the hospital on Friday morning so she was with the kids and Marci came up on Saturday to hang out with her and see the baby. My Mom stopped to get us some food and came to the hospital around 11pm.

We got a little bit of sleep through the night and then took showers and got ready in the morning. I always like taking showers afterwards to feel like a new woman! My Mom and Marci took our kids to sacrament meeting then came to visit us at the hospital. It was fun to see their reactions. They loved her and were so excited to see her.

All dressed up for a photo shoot. Waiting to get released from the hospital.

Going home!!!

Jared's Graduation

Jared graduated from High School last Friday night. It's my parent's last kid so no more early morning seminary for them or sports or crazy school projects or, or, or... It's also sad because we won't have any more siblings to watch in sports anymore! That is weird for me. Jared is an amazing person. He is kind, funny, smart, athletic and is admired by his peers. My Mom received many compliments about him from others. Since he's the youngest he gets ALL our attention and praises. It's a lot, just ask Kyle. :) I had gone to my doctor the day before and got cleared to come over for the graduation. I was glad we were able to come for the weekend. I got foot massages and back massages from my sisters. I'm getting pretty uncomfortable as I get closer to having this baby so it was nice to get pampered.

There were SO many balloon bouquets. It was crazy! Someone even brought a giant teddy bear. We should have brought something ginormous for Jared just to embarrass him.

Our family with Jared. I like how the younger kids were just staring at Jared.

My Mom made tons of yummy food and family and friends came over on Saturday for Jared's graduation BBQ. The kids swam in the pool ALL day on Saturday. They got in at 8:15am and didn't get out until 12:30 then swam all afternoon. They were red lobsters by the end of the day and fell asleep before 7:30pm. Not to mention they were hot messes with red eyes and cried when we tried putting aloe vera on their skin. It was nice to have them crash so early though.

Growin' Up

Kate lost another tooth last week. Her smile has changed so much over the last year. The day after she lost her tooth, she got her pictures taken at Penney's. I was comparing them to last years pictures and she still had her spacey baby teeth in. Ahhh! Crazy how much she's changed over the year. Now it will be interesting to see how those permanent one's come in and look. :)
