Preston needed major ear surgery to remove the cholesteatoma from his left ear, repair that ear drum and then put a tube in his right ear drum. The CAT scan he had earlier showed a cholesteatoma in his ear (his left ear was a mess and had lots of issues) so that ENT referred us to an Otologist downtown Seattle at Virginia Mason, Dr. Seth Schwartz. We really liked him and thought he was very thorough in explaining everything to us. We needed to do this surgery or Preston would lose his hearing. We did the surgery on October 23rd. It took forever for all the doctors and anesthesiologists to come in and get him set up. The surgery took an hour and a half. Dr. Schwartz was very happy with the results and said it went better than anticipated so that was awesome to hear. Preston was angry when he came out of anesthesia. He wanted to rip the ear muff thing off his head. It was hard to keep him from doing that. On our way home from the hospital he finally calmed down more and didn't try ripping it off anymore. Poor kid.
Our neighbors, the Wright's, gave Preston this minion when Mark came over to help Kyle give Preston a Priesthood blessing. So nice of them. Preston loves minions and even knows their names.
This is what it looks like a couple days after surgery. We took off the bandage and saw the scars. We go back next week for a follow up and then again in December for a hearing test.
My Mom gave this playdoh to Preston for him to make minions so here's one of them. She came over to watch the kids for the day while Kyle and I went to the hospital with Preston. That was so nice of her to come over. My Grandpa Bill was in the hospital with an infection in his leg so it was a crazy time for my Mom to leave. But Jeni and Kevin were helping my Grandpa and my Mom was going to go visit him when she got home.
