It's been 2 weeks since I last posted! Time flies. I think of posting something, but then something else comes up. You know how it is.
We had mid-winter break, which is a week off of school in the middle of February. I don't know why they do that, but they do in Western Washington (we didn't have it over in Eastern WA). Mid-winter break was the week of President's Day.
Monday- Kyle had President's Day off so what did we do on his day off??? I had Kyle, Kate and Preston go to the dental office so I could clean all their teeth! Dr. Hopewell was nice enough to let me come and clean their teeth for free even though I don't work there still. So nice. Kyle wasn't excited, Kate was excited so she could get a toy and Preston didn't know what was going on. Kyle complained the most and Preston cried the most, but we did it and all of them got sparkly teeth. I was jealous and want my teeth cleaned now! Then after the fun at the dentist office me and the kids left to meet Marci at North Bend and headed over to my parent's house for a couple days.
Tuesday- Sara and Jeni both came to my Mom's so us girls made some cards, hung out and had an early birthday celebration lunch for my Mom.
Wednesday- Marci and I were going to leave at night, but there was a snow storm coming and the pass was closed the day before so we left after lunch to get over the pass. Marci was a champ and drove the whole way so I could be in the back helping/feeding Lindsey. At one point our suburban wouldn't change into 4 wheel drive so we stopped and restarted the car to see if that would help. It did. Plus, Marci and I both said silent prayers that it would work. Phew! The roads were completely covered so we could drive wherever! It was snowing pretty hard, but we made it fine and the kids weren't too bad.
Thursday- I took Lindsey to the doctor because she wasn't eating good and kept pulling at her ear. Sure enough one ear was infected so we got her on her very first round of antibiotics. I hope she doesn't get ear infections a lot. Then, we went to playgroup in the morning. I don't normally go since Kate and Preston are both in school so they were excited to go and play with friends.
Friday- we were going to go to the zoo, but with gross weather and sick kids we stayed home. It was nice to not have to rush in the morning to get ready for school this week. We discovered we have a rat in the garage! Gross!!! I thought it was a mouse first, but then my neighbor looked at the poop (gross, I know) and said it was a rat. Also, they have had issues with rats in their yard. So we got some rat traps and finally caught the thing a couple days later. I had to throw away some food that we stored out there. It was in heaven eating top ramen and cereal.

Eek! Sorry about the rat!
I hope Lindsey feels better soon. Poor baby!
Oh... something about the rat attacking your food. My parents had a pest problem before (mice, I think). They wound up storing everything in plastic containers. For bulk items, we usually store our stuff in food grade buckets. We'd go into the Albertsons near you, and ask the bakery for any extra buckets and lids they had on hand (they use them for frosting and stuff). Then we took them home, washed them out, and voila, food storage buckets!
The perfectionist in me used packing tape to secure a computer-printed sign inside a plastic sheet protector to the bucket.
Just an idea... so you don't lose any more food if the unwanted guests return!!!
I just realized that I'm consistently doing what [a certain somebody] loathes about [a certain somebody else]. I'd probably better not say who... but the trait is putting in my 2 cents worth of advice all the time (when it's likely that someone won't want it). I hope that you're not doing what [a certain someone does] and rolling your eyes at me when you see my post!
Fun times!! Poor Lindsey, and you.:) At least you will know what to do with her and you shouldn't have to wait for so many now that there is family history!
A rat=gross!!!! That is worse then a mouse!
We get a two week spring break here. Pretty sure I wasn't conferenced in on that decision. And rats? So glad there is one less in the world!
I love the new background!
I'm still in shock of 'the rat'. Thinking of it chewing through boxes gives me the willies. Good thing he's long gone. Goodbye!
Whew, glad you made it over the pass safely. Scary.
Sorry Lindsey has an ear infection. No fun for either of you!
Maybe Kyle wouldn't complain so much if he could get a toy, haha!
ha ha -- i like mel's comment....yes, you should have given Kyle a toy. :)
